GAZ M20 "Pobeda" Cabrio (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" Cabrio (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" Cabrio, is the 4-door convertible version of the Pobeda car made by the russians. In the spirit of that times, the transformation to convertible was made without too much struggle. They just replaced the metal with the canvas without any design change. In the same style, a few years later, GAZ69A and Aro 241 were made.

The scale model belongs to the DeAgostini collection from Russia, and until now it only available there. The features of the model are similar with the hard-top model presented here.

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" (pobeda[rus]=victorie) a fost produs in Uniunea Sovietica intre anii 1946-1958. S-a produs sub licenta si in Polonia sub numele de Warszawa. A primit numele de Pobeda intr-o perioada cand victoria URSS-ului in WW2 parea probabila.

Vopseaua are mici imperfectiuni sub forma unor umflaturi.

GAZ M20 "Pobeda" (1946) - DeAgostini/IST Models

GAZ M-20 "Pobeda" (pobeda[rus]=victory)  was produced in the Soviet Union between 1946-1958. It was also produced under license in Poland, named Warszawa. It was designed in the first '40s by the engineer Andrei A. Liphart, and first tests were conducted at the GAZ plant. It received the name of Pobeda in a period when the victory of USSR in WW2 seemed probable. Pobeda was successfully exported in other countries, Romania as well. It had a 4 cylinder, 2.1 liters engine, 50 bhp, and it could reach 105 km/h. Some years later, from Pobeda derived a 4-doors convertible and a 4x4.

I wished this scale model very much. It was my favourite from the Hungarian colection, after Dacia, of course. It is ok realized, with all the specific details. The paintjob has some small errors, blisters. The taillights are poorly done, chromed and painted with red over the chrome.  The dashboard is is well done, but not painted, nor visible gauges.

FSO Warszawa 203 Ambulance (1963) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In varianta break (kombi), bineinteles.

Bug-uri nu are.

FSO Warszawa 203 Ambulance (1963) - DeAgostini/IST Models

Being their national car, Warszawa 203, was used by the Polish, also as an Ambulance. The estate (kombi), of course. In Romania, a few Warsawas were used by the Departament of Public Health.

The scale model is produced by IST Models for DeAgostini Poland, and it was a special realease, with limited availabilit. It's a model exclusive to Poland. It's very nice made, at the DeAgostini standards. It doesn't have bugs. At the interior, it has a stretcher and 2 other seats for paramedics, beside the front bench. All are white. The back windows are blurry, like usually seen on ambulances. The decals are very good applied and readable. Unfortunately it does not have black window gaskets, but this is not a big problem, and it can easily be fixed.

FSO Warszawa 203 (1963) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In 1963 s-a inceput redesenarea si diversificarea modelului in sedan (3 volume), break si pick-up. Datorita constructiei lor robuste Warszawele au fost intens utilizate ca taxi-uri, chiar si in Romania, fiind importate in anii 60.

FSO Warszawa 203 (1963) - DeAgostini/IST Models

FSO Warszawa 203 was a car produced in Poland, at the Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych plant from Warsaw. The production started in 1951, with the base model, Warsawa M20 (from the city name) which was identical to the soviet Pobeda. In 1963, the redesign and diversification of the model begun. A sedan, a break and a PickUp were designed. Due to its tough and robust construction, the Warszawas were widely used as taxis, even in Romania, where they were imported in the '60s. Warsawa was also the base for the newer vans, Nysa and Zuk

The scale model, produced by IST Models for the DeAgostini collection from Poland, is one of my favourites. This is due to the fact that I like very much the car that it replicates. A car that impressed me every time i saw here in my childhood. The replication of the model is very good, the rims have a white border, the badges and logos are very well made and easy to read. The rough wipers and the tail-lights are among the things that i don't like on this model.

Lada 1500 (1973) - DeAgostini/IST Models

Lada 1500 (1973) - DeAgostini/IST Models

Lada is the export name of the AutoVAZ (Avtomobilniy Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod) car maker. Also named VAZ 2103, Lada 1500 was realeased in 1973 and was an update of Lada 1200 (VAZ 2101). Lada 1500 is still based on Lada 1200, which is was produced under Fiat license (Fiat 124). Among the new features was a new 1.5L engine, double headlights and some design elements and trims.

The scale model, produced by IST Models for DeAgostini, is well replicated. The front grille looks a bit to wide to me. It has some details that many DeAgostini models don't have. Among these are the seats which are brown, unlike the rest of the interior which is black. The window gaskets and the trims are silver, but some vents that should have been black, remained in the base body color.

ZAZ 968 "Zaporozhets" (1972) - DeAgostini/IST Models

Productia a continuat pana in 1994.

Manerele usilor sunt in stil Bburago.

ZAZ 968 "Zaporozhets" (1972) - DeAgostini/IST Models

ZAZ "Zaporozhets" was the name of some compact cars, produced since 1958 at the ZAZ (Zaporizky Avtomobilny Zavod) plant, from Ukraine. The production continued until 1994. ZAZ remained a well-known name among the ex-USSR countries, due to its high accesibility to ordinary people. Even Vladimir Putin has one, his first cars, which he keeps it exposed and he presented to George Bush at a G8 summit. His weird design was a source for nicknames. "Zapor", the shortened name, in Russian means "constipation". It was also called "big eary" due to his big side vents.
ZAZ 968 was produced between 1972 and 1980, and it had a 42 hp, 1.2 liters engine.

The scale model is not detailed enough for a car so popular. The shape is ok, but the details are very "hurried". The reverse lights are red, and some other lights are chromed. The door handles are Bburago-like .

FSO Polonez 1500 (1978) - DeAgostini/IST Models

FSO Polonez 1500 (1978) - DeAgostini/IST Models

FSO Polonez is a car produced in Poland by FSO (Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych), starting from 1978. FSO Polonez 1500 (a.k.a. MR'87) is the first model from this series. It was produced until 1989. Except the body design everything was built under Fiat license. The bodywork was a new design, by Giorgetto Giugiaro. They were not imported official in Romania, but a few were imported after 1989.

The scale model, from DeAgostini, is colored in orange, the most common color of this car. It's not high detailed, the worst thing being the door handles. The face is ok, but oviously, the rivets are visible. The wipers are well realized unlike some other models from this collection. The rims are nice, replicating a real model available for this car

GAZ M24 "Volga" (1968) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In 1961 a inceput dezvoltarea unui nou model menit sa inlocuiasca batrana Volga. In 1967 a aparut primul "concept car" iar in 1968 a iesit primul lot.

GAZ M24 "Volga" (1968) - DeAgostini/IST Models

In 1961, GAZ began developing of a new model to replace the old Volga. GAZ M24, also called "Volga", had the same engine from M21, but modernized. A new V8, 5,5 liters was designed for the model that will be used by the country elite. In 1967, the first concept car was launched and in 1968 they released the first batch.
The scale model, is from the DeAgostini collection, and it's a very successful model. There are no replication errors, the badges look good, the light are well colored but they have rivets. The wheels are ok, with a white trim. The front grille is not perforated, nor painted in black instead of holes. The interior is basic, without decals or additional colors.
